Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 September 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of DotCheck: the Chrome extension, the Android app, the website at dotcheck.ai, Check, and related APIs (together, the “Services”).

DotCheck is operated by Petr Jaroch, a natural person entrepreneur under Czech law, trading as DotCheck (“we,” “us,” or “our”). IČO: 03330389. Registered place of business: Jeníkovice 2, 535 01 Přelouč, Czech Republic. Public registers: ARES / živnostenský rejstřík. Contact: contact@dotcheck.ai.

By accessing, installing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Acceptance and eligibility

To use the Services you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher). If you are under 18 but at least 13, you may use the Services only with a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. The Services are not for children under 13.

Your use of the Services means you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. We may update them from time to time; the “Last updated” date will change, and continued use after a material change means you accept the updated Terms (except where the law requires a different process).

2. The Services

DotCheck scores whether images, video frames, text, and audio are AI or real. Analysis runs on our servers. Scores are probabilistic estimates, not proof of authenticity, not a legal certificate, and not a substitute for your judgment. Text scoring supports English, Chinese, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, and Dutch. Other languages are not scored yet.

The Chrome extension scores content while you browse. The Android app is a signed-in Check experience on your phone: file uploads, Share, and account tools, without browse-time score dots. The website includes Check (file uploads, Share, and your signed-in account tools) and product information.

Plans (prices and limits may be shown on the site and can change with notice):

A Check is one delivered score for one item you can point at (one image, one text unit, one audio clip, one video, or one document page). Cancelled and failed items are not billed. Long pastes may be offered as documents. Large documents run in the background and do not jump the queue ahead of interactive Checks. Serving a stored score still consumes a Check. Lanes change how fast you are served, not what you may score.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features when needed for operations, security, or product direction. We aim for good availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

3. Accounts

Guest Check on the website may work without an account. The Android app, paid plans, and Check when you sign in require Google sign-in via Firebase Authentication. You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure. Report suspected unauthorized access to contact@dotcheck.ai.

Google, Firebase, and Google Play are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We may suspend or restrict accounts for violations of these Terms, fraud, abuse, non-payment, or security risk.

4. Acceptable use

You may use the Services for lawful AI-content scoring, for yourself or for your work, subject to these Terms and applicable law.

You must not:

We may take action, including suspension, if we reasonably believe these rules are broken.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of content you submit for analysis. You confirm you have the rights needed to submit it.

You grant us a limited license to process that content only as needed to provide the Services: scoring, hash-based cache (including lasting product scores when we recognize known AI-origin context for that content), Share renders you request, abuse prevention, support, and security. That recognition can be incomplete or removed and is not proof of semantic truth. Everyday scores show the product score. Internal engine readings may be retained for operating and improving the Services and are not part of the everyday score display. We do not claim a right to train models on your uploads from Check or the Android app, or on extension-scored media, or to use your media for marketing.

Optional feedback you send us may be used to improve the product without obligation to pay or credit you.

6. Intellectual property

DotCheck software, models, branding, and documentation are owned by us or our licensors and protected by Czech, EU, and international law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to use the Services. You may not copy, sell, or redistribute the Services except as the product allows (for example downloading a Share you created).

7. Plans, billing, and withdrawal

Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. On the website, cancel from Billing on Check (Manage billing or Cancel subscription). In the Android app, manage or cancel through Google Play subscriptions. Cancellation ends access immediately and stops renewal. Changes of plan typically take effect at the end of the current billing period unless we say otherwise. Catalog prices are the recurring full-period rates. Monthly plans renew every month from the purchase date. Yearly plans renew every year from the purchase date. The first full charge is the catalog price, due today for the full period. We operate as a Czech sole trader (OSVČ) not registered for VAT (neplátce DPH); no VAT or DPH is added at checkout. If we later must collect VAT (for example after VAT registration or under the EU OSS rules), charges and receipts will show it and these Terms will be updated.

We may grant limited complimentary Premium (or Pro) access for a stated period. That access ends automatically when the period ends unless you start a paid subscription. Catalog prices above still apply to paid plans.

At Chrome Web Store launch, a new Google sign-in during the launch window receives one month of Premium at no charge. That gift is not a paid plan.

We may change pricing with reasonable advance notice (at least 30 days where practical). Continued paid use after the change means you accept the new price for the next period.

EU/EEA consumers: 14-day withdrawal. You generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. For digital services supplied immediately, that right may end if you expressly consent to early performance and acknowledge that you lose the withdrawal right. We will present that consent clearly at checkout when required. If you still have a withdrawal right, email contact@dotcheck.ai within 14 days. Eligible refunds go to the original payment method.

Automatic cancel refunds (Stripe). Separately from statutory withdrawal, when you cancel a Stripe-billed plan from Billing on Check we automatically refund the latest paid charge as described in our Refund and return policy: in full within 14 days of that charge, otherwise a refund for unused whole days left in the paid period. Subscriptions billed through Google Play are cancelled and refunded under Google Play’s rules; see the Refund policy.

Mandatory consumer rights under Czech and EU law are not limited by these Terms.

8. Scores, disclaimers, and liability

Scores are model outputs and estimates. They can be wrong. Do not rely on them alone for employment, credit, law-enforcement, academic integrity penalties, or other high-stakes decisions.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation, perfect accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (including lost profits, data, or goodwill). Where liability can be limited, our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Services is limited to the fees you paid us for the Services in the six months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under Czech or EU consumer law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Services at any time and cancel a paid subscription from Billing on Check (Stripe) or through Google Play subscriptions (Android). We may suspend or end access for breach, abuse, security risk, or non-payment. Provisions that by nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, liability limits where lawful, and governing law) continue after termination.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without conflict-of-law rules that would point elsewhere. Mandatory EU and Czech consumer protections still apply where they cannot be waived.

Subject to those rights, courts in Prague, Czech Republic have jurisdiction, unless mandatory law lets you bring a claim in your country of residence.

Please contact us first at contact@dotcheck.ai so we can try to resolve the issue.

Out-of-court consumer dispute resolution (ADR). Under Czech consumer law, the entity competent for out-of-court resolution of consumer disputes arising from these Services is the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (Česká obchodní inspekce, ČOI), Štěpánská 567/15, 120 00 Prague 2, Czech Republic, website: www.coi.cz (ADR information: coi.gov.cz). You may submit a proposal after trying to resolve the matter with us directly. The former EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform has been discontinued and is no longer available.

Where permitted by law and not applicable to consumers with mandatory protections, disputes must be brought on an individual basis.

11. Changes

We may amend these Terms to reflect legal, operational, or product changes. We will post the new version on this page with an updated date. For significant changes affecting your rights, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example on the website or by email if we have your address).
